Snap-In Dentures (Locator Overdentures)

Replace all of your missing teeth with a Snap-In Denture for a lower cost than fixed full-mouth implant restorations.

What are “snap-in” dentures?

“Snap-in dentures are full dentures that are supported by, and attached to, dental implants. Instead of snugly sitting on the gums like the traditional ones, these dentures are firmly retained by dental implants. Although both dentists and patients can remove these dentures for cleaning and care, they don’t move or slip around while they are in place. This makes them more comfortable and easy to wear than regular dentures.

Peace of mind offered by Implant-supported dentures

Most patients that have worn traditional dentures can tell that they can be uncomfortable after a few months of use. That’s why more and more patients are becoming interested in this type of denture. Snap-in dentures are a versatile, long-term solution that makes patients smile with confidence and restores their ability to eat and speak naturally.

How to care for snap-in dentures

Taking good care of your denture is another crucial aspect that will help it last as long as intended.

To clean your snap-in denture, follow these steps:

Before going to bed, remove your dentures and brush them with a denture brush, unscented antibacterial soap, and water. Gently scrub the o-rings as well: any food particles or debris that isn’t correctly removed from this area will prevent you from snapping your denture back into place. Once your appliance is perfectly clean, you can place it in a denture box filled with water and let it sit there overnight.

For deeper cleaning, you can place a denture-cleaning tablet in the box once or twice a week. This kills any bacteria that might have been left behind after manually cleaning the appliance. However, it is crucial to avoid doing this too often: some of the ingredients present in these tablets may compromise the longevity of the o-rings.

But as important as cleaning your denture is to keep your gums healthy. So once your denture is placed in the box, it’s time to clean your gums. Using a soft toothbrush and toothpaste, brush your gums and tongue – it’s essential to keep dental plaque to the minimum to avoid periodontal disease. Be extra careful when you are brushing around the implants. Our dentists strongly recommend using water floss to clean around the abutments. This device shoots a high-powered stream of water around the implants ensuring they are perfectly cleaned.
